Farm Stands
Currently, farm stands serve as an easy, low-barrier means for farmers to sell directly to consumers. However, the proposed ordinance could alter this by imposing new permit requirements.

Churches and places of worship
These changes shift religious uses from traditionally protected, low-barrier uses to more regulated ones.

Chickens, Bees, and Backyard Gardens

Current zoning is slightly more restrictive for chickens but much less restrictive for bees and backyard gardens.

Proposed zoning allows backyard chickens in some residential zones but prohibits backyard private gardens in 10 of the 14 zones.

Proposed zoning also imposes many restrictions on beekeeping.

Equestrian Facilities – Commercial & Private

Under the existing ordinance, A-1 permitted uses list Commercial (Riding)  Stable & Private Stables, with seemingly no other restrictions.  RE & R1 zones allow horses with some restrictions.

The new ordinance restricts the number of horses and setbacks for fences and buildings in the A-1 & A-2 zones.  RE zones will still allow horses, with more restrictions, and R1 is now excluded.
