Equestrian Facilities
Commercial
Current regulations in A-1 zones state that fencing and other methods of animal confinement shall be maintained at all times in order to reduce danger to neighboring activities and the motoring public and in a safe and sanitary condition.
B-1 & REP zones are allowed Commercial or Private Stables with a SUP.
Proposed ordinances for Commercial Facilities include a minimum lot size of 20 acres, with setbacks of 75 ft for buildings and fences from the lot line and at least 100 ft from highways or other right-of-way.
Private
In RE, R1, RC1, and RPD zones, private stables are permitted with a maximum allowance of one horse per acre, provided the property is at least five acres in size. There are setback regulations for buildings, but not for fencing.
New regulations would allow private stables only in A1, A2, and RE zones and would require the same setbacks for buildings and fences as for Commercial Facilities.
